ProportionIQ ("ProportionIQ", "we", "us") is an iOS app that analyzes photos you take to estimate physique metrics — body-fat range, muscularity, and proportion/aesthetics — and to provide a personalized report and optional AI coaching. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who processes it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the ProportionIQ app and related services operated by [[LEGAL ENTITY — e.g., Burke Ritter / ProportionIQ LLC]].
ProportionIQ is intended only for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used the app, contact us at support@proportioniq.app and we will delete the associated information.
You sign in with Sign in with Apple. We receive a unique account identifier and, depending on your choices in Apple's dialog, your name and an email address (which may be Apple's private-relay address if you choose to hide your email). We do not receive your Apple password.
To personalize your analysis, you provide details such as sex, age, height, weight, optional body measurements (e.g., wrist/ankle), training experience, goals, and target areas, and your unit preference. We store these so scans are computed consistently and your history is meaningful.
When you run a scan, the photos are used to generate your analysis and are handled as described in Section 4. In summary: they are transmitted to our AI provider for analysis and are not retained on our servers. A face-blur step (on by default) can obscure faces before a photo leaves your device. Your own photo history is stored only on your device in an encrypted, backup- excluded vault, and you can delete it at any time.
We store the results the app produces from a scan — your scores and sub-scores, body-composition estimates, muscle-group assessment, proportion/ideal-target data, and the underlying structured data returned by the AI. These are stored so your report, trends, and history work, and are associated with your account. We do not store the source photos alongside them.
If you use the AI Coach (a Pro feature), the messages you send and a running summary of the conversation are processed to generate replies. The message text is transmitted to our AI provider, and conversation state (a compact summary plus recent turns) is stored so the coach remembers context. Do not include information in coach messages that you do not want processed by an AI service.
Purchases are handled by Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We receive your entitlement status (whether you have an active subscription/trial) and related transaction identifiers. We never receive your full payment-card details; Apple processes payment.
We may collect limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service (for example, crash and error reports, and basic request logs such as timestamps and coarse status codes). We use this to keep the app working and to prevent abuse, not to build advertising profiles.
If you opt in to the optional weekly check-in reminder, it is delivered as a local notification scheduled on your device. It can be turned off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
ProportionIQ uses a third-party artificial-intelligence provider, xAI (the Grok API), to analyze your photos and to power the AI Coach. When you run a scan, your photos are transmitted through our backend to xAI for the sole purpose of producing your analysis. When you use the AI Coach, your message text is transmitted to xAI to produce a reply.
ProportionIQ does not perform facial recognition and does not create, extract, or store a "faceprint," a scan of face or hand geometry, or any other biometric identifier from your photos, and it does not use your photos to identify you. The analysis assesses body composition and proportions, not identity. (The optional on-device face blur further obscures faces before a photo is sent for analysis.)
Your body photos, measurements, and the physique estimates derived from them relate to your physical characteristics and may be treated as sensitive or "special category" health data under some laws (for example, the EU/UK GDPR, and Washington State's My Health My Data Act, which treats measurements and body-related data as "consumer health data"). We handle this data as follows: we collect it only to provide the analysis and features you request; we rely on your consent and our provision of the service as the basis for processing; we share it only with the processors listed in Section 5 (notably xAI, to generate your analysis) and not for advertising; and we do not sell it or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can withdraw consent, and access, export, or delete this data, using the in-app controls described in Section 8 or by contacting us at support@proportioniq.app. Washington residents may also exercise the rights described in Section 8 with respect to their consumer health data.
We rely on a small set of vendors ("processors") to run the service. They may process your information only to provide their service to us:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; App Store purchases and subscriptions | Account identifier, name/email (per your choice), purchase status |
| xAI (Grok) | AI analysis of photos and AI Coach replies | Scan photos (transiently), coach message text, profile context for the analysis |
| Supabase | Database and authentication backend | Account id, profile, analysis results, coach conversation state |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Entitlement status, transaction identifiers |
| Render | Backend hosting | Processes requests in transit |
| [[ERROR MONITORING — e.g., Sentry, if used]] | Crash/error monitoring | Diagnostic/error data |
We are not responsible for the independent practices of these providers beyond our contractual arrangements with them; review their policies for details.
From within the app you can:
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To make a request, use the in-app controls or contact us at support@proportioniq.app. For users in the EEA/UK, the legal bases we rely on are performance of our contract with you (to provide the app), your consent (e.g., for model-training use), and our legitimate interests (security and abuse prevention).
We use encryption in transit and at rest, short-lived access controls, and access limited to what is needed to run the service. Your on-device photo vault is encrypted using the device's file protection and is excluded from backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to minimize what we store in the first place.
We operate in the United States, and our providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers. By using the app, you understand your information may be processed in the United States.
ProportionIQ provides estimates and aesthetic analysis for informational and motivational purposes. It is not medical, health, nutritional, or fitness advice, its outputs are estimates rather than clinical measurements, and its aesthetic references reflect classical/artistic convention, not a definition of a "correct" or healthy body. Consult a qualified professional before making health, diet, or training decisions.
If you are struggling with body image, disordered eating, or your mental health, support is available: the National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline at 1-866-662-1235 (Mon–Fri), and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988, 24/7).
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
